Rail Net Denmark introduces new resource allocation system from Trapeze
Rail Net Denmark (Banedanmark) has in recent months replaced its duty and crew planning system with a new system supplied by Trapeze Software in Aarhus, Denmark.
September 2004 (Aarhus, Denmark). Rail Net Denmark’s traffic production department has now introduced a new system supplied by Trapeze for use in connection with duty and crew planning for the company’s approx. 550 employees involved in traffic control.
The system covers the planning process from long-term shift plans and holiday planning to the allocation of resources on individual days and the automatic generation of payroll data.
“The new system has a number of advantages,” says Jørn G. Larsen, Traffic Control Manager, Rail Net Denmark. “In our daily planning of resources the Trapeze System provides us with an excellent overview of the resources available. This greatly facilitates the allocation of resources on a daily basis, while also helping to optimise efficiency. The distribution of duty plans has also become much easier and faster as the plans are now sent out via e-mail. This means that corrections and updates can be distributed immediately to our employees working at more than 40 different geographical locations. Finally, we now have a time registration tool which ensures the correct registration of time by all employees,” Jørn G. Larsen concludes.
Rail Net Denmark’s Trapeze System is integrated with a personnel system based on an SAP solution. Thanks to the integration of the systems, there is direct access to employee master data from both systems, which means that data only have to be entered once. The Trapeze System replaces an old system known as STJAS, developed by DSB.
Rail Net Denmark looks after the operation, maintenance and development of the state-owned rail network in Denmark. Rail Net Denmark controls and monitors rail network traffic and allocates capacity to the various train operators. Furthermore, Rail Net Denmark prepares the overall timetables and takes part in international projects, for example projects concerning the harmonisation of traffic and technical rail standards and the establishment of European railway corridors for passenger and goods transport.
